Fixing of time-limits for the filing of the initial pleadings

THE HAGUE, 20 July 2010. The International Co urt of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial
organ of the United Nations, has fixed time-limits for the filing of the initial pleadings in the case
concerning Whaling in the Antarctic (Australia v. Japan).

By an Order of 13 July 2010, the Court fixe d 9 May 2011 as the time-limit for the filing of a

Memorial by Australia and 9 March 2012 as the ti me-limit for the filing of a Counter-Memorial by
Japan.

The Court adopted the Order taking into account the agreement of the Par
ties. The
subsequent procedure has been reserved for further decision.
