The Court authorizes the Parties to provide further written explanations
THE HAGUE, 4 September 2008. The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal
judicial organ of the United Nations, has authorized Mexico and the United States of America to
provide further written explanations on the Requ est for Interpretation of the Judgment of
31 March 2004 in the Case concerning Avena and Other Mexican Nationals (Mexicov. United
States of America) (Mexico v. United States of America).
In letters dated 2 September 2008, the Registr of the Court informed the Parties of the
decision, which is based on the provisions of Article 98, paragraph 4, of the Rules of Court.
The Court has fixed 17September and 6October2008 as the time-limits for the filing of
such explanations by Mexico and the United States of America, respectively.
