The followinginformation is communicated to the Pressby the
Registryof the International Courtof Justice:
In PressCommuniqué No. 91/7of 5 March 1991it was explainedthat
of Americaof preliminary
followingthe depositby theUnitedStates
objectionsto the jurisdiction of the Court inthe abovecase,the
proceedings on the merits weresuspendedand a time-limit had to be fixed
for the presentation by the otherPartyof a writtenstatementof its
observations and submissions on the preliminary objections.
By an Orderof 9 April 1991,the Court,havingtakenintoaccount
the views of the Parties,fixed9 December 1991as the time-limit within
which the IslamicRepublicof Iranmay present such observations and
submissions.
At a public Sittingof the Court, heldon the same day at
12.00 noon,Mr. Mohsen Aghahosseini ,hosenby theIslamicRepublicof
Iran to sit as judgead hoc in thecase, madethe solemndeclaration
requiredby Article20 of the Statuteof the Court.
