ORDER

The Vice-President of the International Court of Justice, Acting Presi-

dent,
Having regard to Article 48 of the Statute of the Court and to
Article 44, paragraphs 3 and 4, of the Rules of Court,

Having regard to the Order of 10 March 1998, by which the Court
directed Iran to submit a Reply and the United States to submit a Rejoin-
der relating to the claims of both Parties and fixed, respectively, 10 Sep-
tember 1998 and 23 November 1999 as time-limits for the filing of the
Reply and the Rejoinder;

Whereas, by a letter dated 29 April 1998,the Agent of Iran requested
the Court to extend to 10 December 1998the time-limit for the filing of
the Reply and explained the reasons for that request; and whereas, on
receipt of thatetter, the Registrar, referring to Article 44, paragraph 3,
of the Rules of Court, transmitted a copy thereof to the Agent of the
United States;
Whereas, by a letter dated 13May 1998,the Agent of the United States
indicated that his Government did not object to the extension of time-
limit requested by Iran, provided that the time-limit fixed for the filingof

the Rejoinder was, likewise,extended by three months;

Extends to 10December 1998the time-limit for the filing of the Reply

Le vice-présidentde laCour internationale de Justice, faisant fonction
de présidenten l'affaire,

Vu l'article 48 du Statut de la Cour et les paragraphes et 4 de l'ar-
ticle 44 de son Règlement,

Vu l'ordonnance du 10 mars 1998, par laquelle la Cour a prescrit la
présentation d'une réplique del'Iran et d'une duplique des Etats-Unis
portant sur les demandes soumises par les deux Parties, et a fixé,respec-
tivement, au 10septembre 1998et au 23 novembre 1999lesdates d'expi-
ration des délaispour le dépôtde la réplique et dela duplique;
Considérantque, par lettre du 29 avril 1998,l'agent del'Iran a prié la
Cour de reporter au 10décembre1998la date d'expiration du délaipour

le dépôt dela réplique eta indiquélesraisons l'appui de cettedemande;
et considérant que,dèsréceptionde cette lettre, le greffier, se référantau
paragraphe 3 de l'article 44 du Règlement,en a fait tenir copàel'agent
des Etats-Unis;
Considérant que, par lettre du 13 mai 1998, l'agent des Etats-Unis a
indiqué que son gouvernement ne s'opposait pas à la prorogation de
délaisollicitéepar l'Iran, pourvu que le délaifixépour le dépôt de la

duplique soit, de la mêmemanière, prorogé de troismois;

Reporte au 10 décembre 1998 la date d'expiration du délaipour le
dépôtde la réplique del'Iran; Extends to 23 May 2000the time-limitfor the filing ofthe Rejoinder of
the United States; and

Resevves the subsequent procedure for further decision.

placed in the archives of the Court and the others transmitted to the
