The President ofthe International Court ofJustice,
Havingregard to Article48ofthe Statute ofthe Court and to Article44
ofthe Rules of Court,

Havingregard to the Application by the Islamic Republic of Iran filed
in the Registry ofthe Court on 2 November 1992,instituting proceedings
against the United Statesof America,
Having regard to the Order made by the President of the Court on

4 December 1992fixing 31 May 1993as time-limit for the Memorial of
the Islamic Republic of Iran and 30 November 1993for the Counter-
Memorial of the United Statesof America;

Whereas by letters dated 28 May and 2 June 1993and received in the
Registryon thesame days, respectively,the Agent of Iran requested that
thetime-limitforthe filingofthe Memorial be extendedbyeightdaysand
setforth the grounds for this request; and whereas upon receipt ofthose
letters copies thereof were transmitted by the Registrar to the Deputy-

Agent ofthe United States;
Whereasthe Deputy-Agent ofthe United States,consulted pursuant to
Article44,paragraph 3,ofthe Rules of Court, indicatedthat his Govern-
ment had no objectionto the extensionrequested bythe Agent ofIran on
theunderstanding thatthe United Stateswouldreceiveasimilarextension
in the datefor filing ofthe Counter-Memorial, COUR INTERNATIONALE DE JUSTICE

ORDONNANCE

Le Présidentde la Cour internationale de Justice,

Vu l'article 48du Statut de laCour et l'articlee son Règlement,

Vu la requête enregistréeau Greffe de la Cour le 2 novembre 1992par
laquellelaRépubliqueislamique d'Iran aintroduitune instancecontre les

Etats-Unis d'Amérique,
Vu l'ordonnance du 4 décembre 1992par laquelle le Présidentde la
Cour a fixéau 31mai 1993ladate d'expiration du délaipour le dépôtdu
mémoirede la République islamique d'Iran et au 30 novembre 1993la
date d'expiration du délaipour le dépôtdu contre-mémoire des Etats-
Unis d'Amérique;

Considérant que,par deslettresdatéesdu 28mai 1993et du2juin 1993,
reçues au Greffe respectivementà ces mêmesdates, l'agent de l'Iran a
demandé que le délai fixépour le dépôt du mémoire soit prorogéde
huitjours et aindiquéles raisonsl'appui de cette demande; et considé-
rant que, dès réceptionde ces lettres, le Greffier en a transmis copie
l'agent adjoint des Etats-Unis;

Considérant que l'agent adjoint des Etats-Unis, consulté conformé-
ment au paragraphe 3 de l'article du Règlementde la Cour,a indiqué
queson gouvernement n'avaitpas d'objection àformulercontre la proro-
gationdemandéepar l'agentde l'Iran, étantentenduque lesEtats-Unisse
verraient accorder une prorogation semblable du délai fixépour le dépôt

Extendsto 8June 1993the time-limitfor the filing of the Memorial of
the IslamicRepublic of Iran;
Extends to 16 December 1993 the time-limit for the filing of the

Counter-Memorial ofthe United States of America; and
Reservesthe subsequentprocedure forfurther decision.

the Peace Palace, The Hague,this third day of June, one thousandnine

hundred and ninety-three,in three copies, one ofwhich willbe placed in
the archivesofthe Courtand the otherstransmitted to the Government of
the IslamicRepublic of Iran and the Government ofthe United States of
Arnerica,respectively.
