ORDER

The President of the InternatiCourt of Justice,

Having regard to Article 48 of theute of the Court and to
Article 68 of the Rules of Court;
Having regard to the Application filed in the Registry of the
Court on 13 February 1959, by which the Govemment of the French
Republic institutedroceedings before the Court against the
Government of the fepublic of Lebanon alleging that certain
measures taken by the latter Government were contrary to under-
takings given by it in an agreement conchided on 24 January 1948
between France and Lebanon;
Having regard to the Memorial filed by the French Government
on 18 August 1959;

Having regard to the Preliminary Objections filedbythe Lebanese
Government on 23 December 1959;
Having regard to the Order of 6 January 1960, recording that
the proceedings on the merits were thereby suspended and fixing
10 February 1960 as the time-limit within whicthe French
Govemment might presenta written statement of its Observations
and Submissions on the Objections raised by the Govemment of

Having regard to the Observations and Submissions filed by the
French Government within the time-limit fixed;

Whereas, by a letter dated 24 May 1960 and received in the
Registry on 4 June 1960, the Agent for the French Government
informed the Registrar that, as the result of conversations between
the Government of the Republic of Lebanon and the French
Embassy at Beirut, satisfactory arrangements had been concluded,
and that the Government of the French Republic considered that
the conclusion and execution of new undertakings by the Govern-
ment of the Republic of Lebanon put an end to the disputes which
had been submitted to the Court by the Application of 13 February

19.59;
Whereas, by a letter dated 22 August 1960 and received in the
Registry on 23 August 1960, the Lebanese chargé d'affaires a.;.
in London informed the Registrar that, following conversations
between the Lebanese Government and the French Embassy in
Beirut, the case of the SociétéRadio-Orient had been settledby an
arrangement of II May 1960 and the case of the 'Compagniedu
Port, des Quais et des Entrepôts deBeyrouth had been settled by an
arrangement of 13 April1960;

Whereas, by a letter dated 26 August 1960 and received in the
Registry on 29 August 1960, the Lebanese chargé d'affaires a.;. in
London transmitted to the Registrar the text of the Convention
of 13 April 1960 between the State of Lebanon and the Compagnie
du Port, desQuais et desEntrepôts de Beyrouth and a copy, together
with a certified translation in French, of the officia1 notification
of the Decision ofII May 1960of the Councilof Ministers ofLebanon
regarding the SociétéRadio-Orient, these documents establishing
the arrangements concluded and relating to the disputes submitted
to the Court;

Places on record the communications thus received from the
Parties to the case;
Orders that the case be removed from the Court's List.
Done in French and in English, the French text being authori-
tative, at the Peace Palace, The Hague, this thirty-first day of
August, one thousand nine hundred and sixty, in three copies,
one of which will be placed in the archives of the Court and the
others transmitted to the Government of the French Republic

and to the Government of the Republic of Lebanon, respectively.

Le Président de la Cour internationale de Justice,

Vu l'article du Statut de la Cour et l'ar68du Règlement
de la Cou;
Vu la requête introductive d'instance déposéeau Greffe de la
Cour le 13 février 1959 par laquelle le Gouvernement de la Répu-
blique française a introduit une instance devant la Cour contre le
Gouvernement de la République du Liban, alléguant que certaines
mesures prises par ce dernier étaient contraires aux engagements
pris par lui dans un accord conclu entre la France et le Liban le
24janvier1948;

Vu le mémoire déposépar le Gouvernement français le 18 août
1959;
Vu les exceptions préliminaires déposéespar le Gouvernement
libanaisl23 décembre1959;
Vu l'ordonnance du 6 janvier 1960 constatant que la procédure
sur le fond était suspendue en conséquenceet fixaIO février
1960 la date d'expiration du délai dans lequel le Gouvernement
français pouvait présenter un exposé écrit contenant ses obser-
vations et conclusions sur les exceptions soulevSespar le Gouverne-
ment libanais ;

Considérant que, dans une lettre datée du 24 mai 1960 et reçue
au Greffe le 4 juin 1960, l'agent du Gouvernement françrzis a in-
forméle Greffier qu'à la suite de conversations entre le Gouverne-
ment de la République du Liban et l'ambassade de France àBey-
routh des arrangements satisfaisants avaient étéconclus et que le
Gouvernement de la République française considérait que les
conclusions et l'exécutiondes nouveaux engagements du Gouveme-
ment de la République libanaise mettaient fin aux différendsdont
il avait saisi la Cour par requête du13 février1959;

Considérant que, par une lettre datéedu 22 août 1960 et reçue au
Greffe le 23 août 1960, le chargé d'affaires ad interim du Liban à
Londres a fait connaître au Greffier qu'à la suite des conversations
entre le Gouvernement libanais et l'ambassade de France à Bey-
routh l'affaire de la Société Radio-Orient avait étérégléepar un
arrangement en datedu IImai 1960et l'affaire de la Compagnie du
Port, des Quais et des Entrepôts de Beyrouth avait étérégléepar
un arrangement du 13 avril 1960;

Considérant que, par une lettre datéedu 26 août 1960 et reçue au
Greffe le 29 août 1960, le chargé d'affaires ad interim du Liban à
',ondres a transmis au Greffierle texte de la convention du 13 avril
1360 entre l'État libanais et la Compagnie du Port, des Quais et
des Entrepôts de Beyrouth et une copie, avec traduction française
certifiée conforme, de la notification officielle de la décision du
II mai 1960 du Conseil des ministres libanais relative à la Société
Radio-Orient, ces documents établissant les arrangements conclus
en ce qui concerne les litiges soumis à la Cour internationale de
Justice;

Prend acte des communications ainsi reçues des Parties en
l'affair;
Ordonne que l'affaire soit rayée du rôle de la Cour.
Fait en français et en anglais, le texte français faisant foi,au Palais
de la Paix, La Haye, le trente et un août mil neuf cent soixante,
en trois exemplaires dont l'un restera déposéaux archives de la
Cour et dont les autres seront transmis respectivement au Gouverne-
ment de la République française et au Gouvernement de la Répu-
blique du Liban.
