Conclusion of the public hearings

Court ready to begin its deliberation

THE HAGUE, 7 November 2002. The public hearings in the case conceming Application
for Revision of the Judgment of 11July 1996 in the Case conceming Application of the

Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Bosnia and
Herzegovina v. Yugoslavia), Preliminary Objections (Yugoslavia v. Bosnia and Herzegovina) were
concluded today. The Court will now start its deliberation.

At the hearings, which opened on 4 November 2002, the delegation of Yugoslavia was led

by Mr. Tibor Varady, as Agent; the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was led by
Mr. Sakib Softié,as Agent.

As provided in Article 61 of the Statute, these public hearings were devoted to the question
of the admissibility ofthe Application for Revision filed by Yugoslavia. The Court'sjudgment on
this matter will be delivered at a public sitting on a date to be announced later.

Final submissions of the Parties

At the conclusion of the oral proceedings the Parties presented the following submissions to
the Court:

For Yugoslavia:

"The Federal Republic ofYugoslavia respectfully requests the Court to adjudge and declare:

that there are newly discovered facts such a character as to lay the 11July 1996 Judgment
open to revisionnder Article 61 of the Statute of the Court; and

that the Application for Revision of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Is therefore
admissible." -2-

For Bosnia and Herzegovina:

"Bosnia and Herzegovina requests the Court to adjudge and declare that the Application for
Revision of the Judgment of Il July 1996, submitted by the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on

23 April2001, is not admissible."
