The following inforrri-tion is made available to the press by

the Registry of the fnternational Court of Justice:

On 25 November 1.981, the Government of Canada and the Government

of the United States notified to the Registry a Special Agreement

concluded by them on 29 March 1979 wl~ich enterêd into force on

20 November 1981. Tkiat Specisl Agreemerit subxits to a chamber of
the Court the <Ielimit;ation of the maritime boundary in the Gulf of

Maine area.
