Certain Questions concerning Diplomatic Relations (Honduras v. Brazil)
Case removed from the Court’s List at the request of Honduras
THE HAGUE, 19 May 2010. The case br ought by the Republic of Honduras against the
Federative Republic of Brazil on 28October2009 (see press release No.2009/30) before the
International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, has been
removed from the Court’s List at the request of Honduras.
By a letter of 30 April 2010, received in the Registry on 3 May 2010,
Mr. Mario Miguel Canahuati, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Honduras, informed the Court that
the Honduran Government was “not going on with the proceedings initiated by the Application
filed on 28October2009 against the Federative Republic of Brazil” and that “in so far as
necessary, the Honduran Government accordingly [w as] withdraw[ing] this Application from the
Registry”.
The President of the Court made an Order on 12May2010 in which, after noting that the
Brazilian Government had not taken any step in the proceedings in the case, he recorded the
discontinuance by the Republic of Honduras of the proceedings instituted by the Application filed on
28 October 2009 and ordered that the case be removed from the List.
