This Table lists the maps, charts and illustrationsin the order of their appear-
ance within the written proceedings. In the margin, the ringed numerals cor-
respond to the numbering of the maps, charts and illustrations reproduced in
this Volume. The absence of any ringed numeral or reference to a Volume of
this edition signifies that the illustration in question has not been reproduced.
The Table also lists, with similar indications, the maps and charts deposited

during theoral proceedings which have been reproduced in this Volume. It does
not, however, list the maps and charts used during the hearing which had
alreadv aooeared in the written oroceedines or have not been renroduced in
thised;ti&, for which the rcadcr ihould turi to the text of thcoral arguments or
to the cones~ondence (Vols. III and IV).
The reproductions in this Volume are of a purely illustrative charactcr, and
neither the typography nor the praentaiion of the published maps, chdrts and
illustrations, which have sometimes had to be markedly scaled down, may he
