ORDER

Present: President Tomka ; Vice‑President Sepúlveda-Amor ; Judges
Owada, Abraham, Keith, Bennouna, Skotnikov, Cançado
Trindade, Yusuf, Greenwoofd, Xue, Donoghue, Gaja,
Sebutinde, Bhandari ; Registrar Couvreur.

The International Court of Justice,

Composed as above,

After deliberation,
Having regard to Article 48 of the Statute of the Court and to Arti-
cles 31, 44, 45, paragraph 1, 48 and 49 of the Rules of Court,

Having regard to the Application filed in the Registry of the Court onf
24 April 2013, whereby the Government of the Plurinational State of
Bolivia instituted proceedings against the Republic of Chile with regardf

to a dispute “relating to Chile’s obligation to negotiate in good faith and
effectively with Bolivia in order to reach an agreement granting Bolivfia a
fully sovereign access to the Pacific Ocean” ;

Whereas on 24 April 2013 a signed copy of the Application was trans-
mitted to Chile ;
Whereas by letter dated 24 April 2013 accompanying its Application,

Bolivia notified the Court of the appointment of H.E. Mr. Eduardo

Rodríguez Veltzé as Agent ; and whereas by letter dated 7 May 2013,

Chile notified the Court of the appointment of H.E. Mr. Felipe Bulnes
Serrano as Agent ;
Whereas, at a meeting held by the President of the Court with the

Agents of the Parties on 12 June 2013, the latter indicated that they had
come to an agreement that Bolivia should have a period of ten months at f
its disposal, from the day of the present Order, in which to prepare itsf
Memorial, and that Chile should then have a period of ten months for thef
preparation of its Counter-Memorial ;

Taking into account the agreement of the Parties,

Fixes the following time-limits for the filing of the written pleadings :

17 April 2014 for the Memorial of the Plurinational State of Bolivia ;

18 February 2015 for the Counter-Memorial of the Republic of Chile ;
and

Reserves the subsequent procedure for further decision.

Done in English and in French, the English text being authoritative, at f
the Peace Palace, The Hague, this eighteenth day of June, two thousand
and thirteen, in three copies, one of which will be placed in the archivfes
of the Court and the others transmitted to the Government of the Pluri -
national State of Bolivia and the Government of the Republic of Chile,

respectively.

Après délibéré en chambre du conseil,
Vu l’article 48 du Statut de la Cour et les articles 31, 44, 45, para-

graphe 1, 48 et 49 de son Règlement,
Vu la requête déposée au Greffe de la Cour le 24 avril 2013, par laquelle

le Gouvernement de l’Etat plurinational de Bolivie a introduit une infs-
tance contre la République du Chili au sujet d’un différend rfelatif à
«l’obligation du Chili de négocier de bonne foi et de manière efffective
avec la Bolivie en vue de parvenir à un accord assurant à celle-ci un accès

pleinement souverain à l’océan Pacifique »;
Considérant que, le 24 avril 2013, une copie signée de la requête a été
transmise au Chili ;

Considérant que, par une lettre en date du 24 avril 2013 jointe à sa
requête, la Bolivie a fait connaître à la Cour qu’elle avaitf désigné comme

agent S. Exc. M. Eduardo Rodríguez Veltzé; et que, par une lettre en

date du 7 mai 2013, le Chili a fait connaître à la Cour qu’il avait désignfé
comme agent S. Exc. M. Felipe Bulnes Serrano ;
Considérant que, au cours d’une réunion que le président de la Cour a

tenue avec les agents des Parties le 12 juin 2013, ceux-ci ont indiqué qu’ils
étaient parvenus à un accord tendant à ce que la Bolivie disposfe d’une
période de dix mois, à compter de la présente ordonnance, pour fla prépa -
ration de son mémoire, et à ce que le Chili dispose ensuite d’ufne période
de dix mois pour la préparation de son contre-mémoire ;

Compte tenu de l’accord des Parties,

Fixe comme suit les dates d’expiration des délais pour le dépôt fdes
pièces de la procédure écrite :
Pour le mémoire de l’Etat plurinational de Bolivie, le 17 avril 2014 ;

Pour le contre-mémoire de la République du Chili, le 18 février 2015 ;

Réserve la suite de la procédure.

Fait en anglais et en français, le texte anglais faisant foi, au Palafis de la
Paix, à La Haye, le dix-huit juin deux mille treize, en trois exemplaires,
dont l’un restera déposé aux archives de la Cour et les autres fseront trans-
mis respectivement au Gouvernement de l’Etat plurinational de Bolivief et
au Gouvernement de la République du Chili.
