Having regard to Article 48 of the Statute of the Court and to
Article 44, paragraph 3, of thes of Court,

Having regard to the Order of 10 March 1998, by which the Court
directed Iran to submit a Reply and the United States to submit a Rejoin-
der relating to the claims of both Parties and fixed, respectively, 10 Sep-
tember 1998 and 23 November 1999 as time-limits for the filing of the
Reply and the Rejoinder,
Having regard to the Order made by the Vice-President of the Court,
Acting President, on 26 May 1998,whereby he extended to 10December
1998the time-limit for the filingof the Reply of Iran and to 23 May 2000

Vu l'ordonnance du 10 mars 1998, par laquelle la Cour a prescrit la
présentation d'une répliquedl'Iran et d'une duplique des Etats-Unis
portant sur les demandes soumises par les deux Parties, et a fixé,respec-
tivement, au0septembre 1998 et au 23 novembre 1999 lesdates d'expi-
ration des délaispour le dépôtde la répliqueet de la duplique,
Vu l'ordonnance du 26 mai 1998, par laquelle le vice-président dela
Cour, faisant fonction de président enl'affaire, a reportéau 10décembre
1998la date d'expiration du délai pourle dépôt de la répliquedel'Iran et

au 23 mai 2000la date d'expiration du délai pourle dépôt dela duplique

Whereas, by a letter dated 12 November 1998, the Agent of Iran
requested the Court to extend to 10 March 1999the time-limit for the
filing of the Reply and explained the reasons for that request; and
whereas, on receipt of that letter, the Registrar, referring to Article 44,
paragraph 3, of the Rules of Court, transmitted a copy thereof to the
Agent of the United States;
Whereas, by a letter dated 3 December 1998, the Co-Agent of the
United States indicated that his Government did not object to the exten-
sion of time-limitrequested by Iran, provided that the time-limitfixedfor
the filing of the Rejoinder be extended likewise,

Extends to 10March 1999the time-limit for the filing of the Reply of
Iran;

Extends to 23 November 2000 the time-limit for the filing of the
Rejoinder of the United States; and
Resevves the subsequent procedure for further decision.

Done in English and in French, the English text being authoritative, at

the Peace Palace, The Hague, this eighth day of December, one thousand
nine hundred and ninety-eight, in three copies, one of which will be
placed in the archives of the Court and the others transmitted to the
Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Government of the
United States of America, respectively.

Considérant que, par lettre du 12 novembre 1998, l'agent de l'Iran a
priéla Cour de reporter au 10 mars 1999 la date d'expiration du délai
pour le dépôt dela réplique deson gouvernement et a indiquéles raisons
à l'appui de cette demande; et considérant que, dès réception de cette
lettre, le greffier, se référantau paragraphede l'article 44 du Règle-
ment, en a fait tenir copiàl'agent des Etats-Unis;
Considérant que, par lettre du 3 décembre1998,le coagent des Etats-
Unis a indiqué que son gouvernementne s'opposait pas àla prorogation

de délaisollicitéepar l'Iran, pourvu que le délaifixépour le dépôtde la
duplique soit prorogéde la mêmemanière,
Reporte au 10mars 1999la date d'expiration du délaipour le dépôtde

la répliquede l'Iran;
Reporte au 23 novembre 2000 la date d'expiration du délaipour le
dépôtde la duplique des Etats-Unis;
Réservela suite de la procédure.

Fait en anglais et en français, le texte anglais faisant foi, au Palais de la
Paix,à La Haye, le huit décembremil neuf cent quatre-vingt-dix-huit, en
trois exemplaires, dont l'un restera déposéaux archives de la Cour et les
autres seront transmis respectivement au Gouvernement de la Répu-
blique islamique d'Iran et au Gouvernement des Etats-Unis d'Amérique.
