ORDONNANCE

La Cour internationale de Justice,

vu l'article du Statutde la Cour,
vu l'article du Règlement de la Cour,

Rend l'ordonnance suivante :

Vu la requêtedéposéeau Greffe le 6 ju1955tpar laquelle le
Gouvernement de la République française a introduit une instance
contre le Royaume de Norvège au sujet du paiement de certains
emprunts norvégien;
Vu l'ordonnance du19septembre 1955fixant les délais pour le
dépôt dumémoireet du contre-mémoireen cette affaire et réservant
la suite de la procédure;

Vu le mémoire déposépar le Gouvernement de la République
française dans le délai ;ixé

Considérant que l20 avri1956 'est-à-dire dans le délaifixé
pour le dépôt du contre-mémoire, le Gouvernement du Royaume

ORDER

The International Court of Justice,

having regard to Article48 of the Statute of the Court,

having regard to Article 62 of theRules of Court,

Makes the following Order:
Having regard to the Application filed in the Registry on
July 6th, 1955, whereby the Government of the French Republic
institutedproceedings against the Kingdom of Norway in the
matter of the payment of certain Norwegian Loans ;

Having regard to the Order of September ~gth, 1955, fixing the
time-limits for the filing of the Mernorialand the Counter-Memorial
in this case and reserving the rest of the procedure for further
decision ;

Having regard to the Mernorial filed by the Government of the
French Republic within the time fixed;

Whereas on April zoth, 1956, that is, within the time fixed for
the filing of the Counter-Mernorial, the Government of the King-de Norvège a déposéun document énonçant certaines exceptions
préliminaires à la compétence de la Cour et soutenant que la
demande introduite par la requêten'est pas recevable ;

Considérant qu'en conséquence, en vertu des dispositions de
l'article62,paragraphe 3, du Règlement de la Cour, la procédure
sur le fond est suspendue et qu'il échetde fixer un délaipendant
lequel la Partie adverse pourra présenter un exposé écritcontenant
ses observations et conclusions au sujet desdites exceptions prélimi-
naires ;

Fixe au 4 juin 1956 l'expiration du délai pendant lequel le
Gouvernement de la Républiquefrançaise pourra déposer unexposé
écrit contenant ses observations et conclusions sur les exceptions
soulevéespar le Gouvernement du Royaume de Norvège ;
Réserve la suite de la procédure.

Fait en français et en anglais, le texte français faisant foi, au
Palais de la Paix, à La Haye, le vingt-quatre avril mil neuf cent
cinquante-six, en trois exemplaires, dont l'un restera déposéaux
archives de la Cour et dont les autres seront transmis respective-

ment au Gouvernement de la Républiquefrançaise etau Gouverne-
ment du Royaume de Norvège.

objections to the jurisdiction of the Court and contending that the
claim submitted by the Application is inadmissible ;

Whereas, accordingly, by virtue of the provisions of Article 62,
paragraph 3, of the Rules of Court, the proceedings on the merits
are suspended and a time-limit should be fixed for the presentation
py the other Party of a written statement of its observations and
submissions on the said preliminary objections ;

Fixes June 4th, 1956, as the time-limit withinwhich the Govern-
ment of the French Republic may present a written statement of
its observations and submissions in regard to the Objections raised
by the Government of the Kingdom of Norway ;
Reserves the rest of the procedure for further decision.

Done in French and English, the French text being authoritative,

at the Peace Palace, The Hague, this twenty-fourth day of April,
one thousand nine hundred and fifty-six, in three copies, one of
which will be placed in the archives of the Court and the others
transmitted to the Government of the French Republic and to
the Government of the Kingdom of Norway, respectively.
