Filing of a written statement by Venezuela

THE HAGUE, 19 May 2009. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has agreed to the
filing of a Written Statement by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the question of the

Provisional Institutions of Self-Government of Kosovo (request for advisory opinion) after the
expiry of the relevant time-limit.

Venezuela filed its Written Statement on 24 Apr il 2009. By an Order, the Court had fixed

17 April 2009 as the time-limit within which writte n statements on the question could be presented
to it.

In total, 36 Member States of the United Nations have thus now filed written statements on
the question. These States are (in order of receipt): Czech Republic, France, Cyprus, China,

Switzerland, Romania, Albania, Austria, Egypt, Germany, Slovakia, Russian Federation, Finland,
Poland, Luxembourg, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, United Kingdom, United States of America, Serbia,
Spain, Islamic Republic of Iran, Estonia, Norway, Netherlands, Slovenia, Latvia, Japan, Brazil,
Ireland, Denmark, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Maldives, SierraLeone, Bolivia and the Bolivarian
Republic of Venezuela.

It is recalled that the authors of the unilate ral declaration of independence by the Provisional
Institutions of Self-Government of Kosovo have filed a written c ontribution. The texts of the
written statements and of the written contribution are confidential at this stage of the proceedings.
