Aerial Incident of 3 July 1988
(Islamic Republic of Iran v. United States of America)

The followin.g information is communicated to the Press by the
Registry of the International Court of Justice:

Since the Court does not include upon the Bench a Judge of the
nationality of the Islamic Republic of Iran, that party in the above case
has, in accordance with Article 31 of the Statute, chosen
Mr. Mohsen Aghahosseini to sit as judge ad hoc.

The Court, taking into account Article 35 of the Rules of Court,
will hold a public sitting on Tuesday 9 April 1991, at 12 noon, for the
purpose of enabling Mr. Aghahosseini to make the solemn declaration
required by Article 20 of the Statute.

Mr. Mohsen Aghahosseini is an Iranian national. He was born in
Tehran in 1945. He was educated at the University of Tehran, the
University of London (Dipl. in Law; LL.M.) and the University of Oxford
(B. Litt.). He is currently a member of the Iran-United States Claims
