Les renseignements suivants, émanant du Greffe de Ia 'cour interna-
tionale de Justice, ont été mis à 12 disposition de la presse:

La Cour internationale de Justice a raye de son rBleles a$- -
faires relatives au traitement en Hongrie diun avion des Etats-.Unis
dihérique et de son &quipage, introduites devant la Cour le 3 mars 195.4
par deux requetes du Gouvernement des 4"tats-Unis diimérique, l'une contre
11U,R,S.S. et l'autrecontreLa Hon~rie.

Dans ces requgtes, le Gouvernement des Ttats-Unis invaquait notamment
llarticle 36, paragraphe 1, du Statut de la Cour,où il est dit que la

compétence de la Gour s'étend 2 tout$ affaires que les F'arties lui sou-
mettront, 11 declarzit accepter cet;3 compétence aux fins des deux af-
faires, et faisait valoir qui il était loisible auxGouvernement se
1fU.E.S.S. et de la Hongrie d.e faire de même:la compétence serait ainsi
confirmée, et la Cour pourrait statuer,

Les requêtes du Gouvernement des Etats-Unis avaient été notifiées le
jour meme de léur dépôt aux Gouvernements de 1tU .a.S,S. et de la Hongrie.
r), Des réponses regues de ces Gouvernements ,l résulte quiilsne sant pas
disposésà accepter la cornpetence de la Cour en la matière, CtesS après
avoir constate cette situation que la Cour a prescrit la radiation du
rôle.

The following information fromthe Registry of the International Court
of Justice has been com3wiicated to the Uress:

The International Court of Justice has removed from its List the cases
relating to the treatment in Hungary of an aircraft and crew of the
United States of ,aierica, which were braughtbeforethe Court on March
3rd, 195.4 ,y two Applications of the Goverment of the United States of
imerica,one against the U .S.S,R, and the other against Hqary.

In these ,'rpplications the Goverment of the United States invokedin

particular Lrticle 36, para2raph1, of the Statute of the Court, vhich
provides that the jurisdiction of the Court comprisesaU cases whiçh
the parties refer to it, It stated that it submitted to the Courtls
jurisdiction for the purposesof the two cases and kdicated that it
was open to the Governments af the U,S.S.R. and of Hungary to do the
same: the Court'sjurisdiction would thus be confirmedand the Court
could then ad judicate .

The ::pplications of the 'ovement of the United States wsre cammunicated
to the Gomrnments of the U.S.S.B. and of Hungary on the same day as
they were filed. From replies received fromthese Governments, it
appears that they are not prepared to accept the jurisdictio nf the
Court in these cases. Having noted this situation, the Coh has ordered
the removal of the cases from its List,
