Declaration of Intervention of El Salvador
The following information is made available to the press by the
Registry of the International Court of Justice:
On 4 October 1984 the International Court of Justice decided by
nine votes against six not to hold a hearing on the declaration of
intervention submitted by El Salvador in the case concerning Military
and Paramilitary Ac~tivities in and against Nicaragua (N-icaragua V.
United States of Anierica) .
The same day, it decided by 14 votes to one to defer further
consideration of the question of the admissibility of the intervention
by El Salvador uritK1 a later stage of the proceedings.
On the first point, Judges Ruda, Mosler, Ago, Schwebel,
Sir Robert Jenningç, de Lacharrière voted against.
On the second point, Judge Schwebel voted against.
