Conclusion of public hearings

The following information is made available to the Press by the
Registry of the International Court of Justice:
The second series of public hearings in the case of the Continental
Shelf between the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya and Malta, which began on
4 February was concluded on 22 February 1985. The first series had
taken place between 26 November and 14 December 1984.
The Court first heard, on 4 and 5 February, the evidence of expert
witnesses called successively by the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya and Malta.
Each expert was first examined by the Party which had called him, and
then cross-examined by the other Party.
Evidence was given on behalf of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya by
Mr. J.E. van Hinte, Mr. D. Jongsma and Mr. 1. Finetti.
Evidence was given on behalf of Malta by Mr. G.H. Mascle and
Mr. C. Morelli.
Between 8 February and 22 February 1985, the Court heard statements
made on behalf of the Parties during the second round of oral arguments.

the end of the hearing which completed the oral presentation of its case.
The Court will now withdraw to consider its judgrnent.
The Press will be informed of the date when the Court's Judgment
will be given.
