During publicsittings of thc International Court of Justice
on 2nd and 3rd October, 1950in the Colombo-Teruvia cnse conccrning
asylum, the representativco of the Peruvian Govcrmnt, 'Xi.Carlos Sayan
Alvarez and Professor C*orges Scclla dcfendedtbis Gov.erm~ntls position,
According to them, the Femvian Government , unddr international 1ar.r and
particularly under tha international treatic s on asylum, is not obligcd
to Igrant a safe-conduct to Ph. Victor Raul Haya de la Torre, a Peruvian
citizen, to whom asylun had been granted in thc Colombian hbassy in
Lima.
The representatives of the two States will prcsent thelr oral
reuly and rajoinder in sittings of the Courtboginxiing 0116th October
a'c1Q.30 a.m.
