Having regard to Article 48 of the Statute of the Court and to
Articles44and 79 of the Rules of Court,
Having regard to the Order of 30 Ju1999,whereby the Court fixed
5 January 2000 and 5July 2000 as the time-limits for the filing, respec-
tively, oa Memorial of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and a
Counter-Memorial of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland,
Having regard to the preliminary objections to jurisdiction and admis-
sibility filed by the United Kingdom4oJuly 2000,
Having regard to theOrder of 8September 2000, whereby the Vice-
President of the Court, Acting President, 5April 2001 as the time-
limit within which the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia might present a

written statement of its observations and submissions on the preliminary
objections made by the United Kingdom,
Having regard to the Order of 21 February 2001, whereby the Court,
taking account of the agreement of the Parties and of the circumstances
of the case, extended to 5 April 2002 the time-limit within which Yugo-
slavia might present its written statement;
Whereas, by letter dated 8 February 2002, received in the Registry on
the same day by facsimile, the Agent of the Federal Republic of Yugo-
slavia referred interaliuto "dramatic" and "ongoing" changes in Yugo-
slavia which "have put the cas[e] . . . in a quite different perspective", as
well as to the decision to be taken by the Court in another case involving
Yugoslavia, and requested the Court, for reasons stated in that letter,
"for a stay of proceedings or. . . for an extension by twelve months of the
time period for the submission of observations on the preliminary objec-
tions raised by .. the United Kingdom"; and whereas, on receipt of that
letter. the Registrar transmitteda copy thereof to the Agent of the United
Kingdom ;
Whereas, by letter dated 22 February 2002, received in the Registry on
the same day by facsimile, the Agent of the United Kingdom informed
the Court that his Government was not opposed to a stay of proceedings
or, if a stay was not possible, to an extension of the time-limit for the
filing of the observations and submissions of Yugoslavia on the prelimi-
nary objections of the United Kingdom,
Taking account of the agreement of the Parties and of the circum-
stances of the case,
Esten~1.to 7 April 2003 the time-limit within which the Federal Repub-
lic of Yugoslavia may present a written statement of its observations and
submissions on the preliminary objections made by the United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: and
Reserves the subsequent procedure for further decision.
Done in English and in French, the English text being authoritative, at
the Peace Palace, The Hague, this twentieth day of March, two thousand
and two, in three copies, one of which will be placed in the archives of the
Court and the others transmitted to the Government of the Federal
Republic of Yugoslavia and the Government of the United Kingdom of
Great Britain and Northern Ireland, respectively.

Vu l'ordonnance du 21 février 2001,par laquelle la Cour, compte tenu
de l'accord des Parties et des circonstances de l'espèce, a reporté au
5 avril 2002 la date d'expiration du délai dans lequel la Yougoslavie
pourrait présenter sori exposéécrit;
Considérant que, par lettre du 8 février 2002,reçue au Greffe le même
jour par télécopie,l'agent de la République fédéralede Yougoslavie s'est
notamment référé à des changements ((profonds)) et «encore en cours))
en Yougoslavie qui «ont placé [l'affaire] dans une tout autre perspec-
tive)),ainsi qu'a la décisionà rendre par la Cour dans une autre affaire
impliquant la Yougoslavie, et a demandé à la Cour, pour les raisons
exposées dans ladite lettre, «soit la suspension de la procédure, soit la
prorogation de douze mois du délaipour la présentation des observations
sur les exceptions préliiminairessoulevées... par ... le Royaume-Uni ); et
considérant que, dès réception de cette lettre, le greffier en a fait tenir
copie à l'agent du Ro:yaume-Uni;
Considérant que, par lettre du 22 février2002, reçue au Greffe le même
jour par télécopie,l'agent du Royaume-Uni a informé la Cour que son
gouvernement ne s'opposait pas à la suspension de la procédure ou, si
cette suspension n'était pas possible, à la prorogation du délai pour le
dépôt des observations et conclusions de la Yougoslavie sur les excep-
tions préliminaires du Royaume-Uni,
Compte tenu de l'accord des Parties et des circonstances de l'espèce,
Reporte au 7 avril 2003 la date d'expiration du délai dans lequel la
République fëdérale de Yougoslavie pourra présenter un exposé écrit
contenant ses observations et conclusions sur les exceptions préliminaires
soulevéespar le Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande du Nord;
Rtscrve la suite de la procédure.
Fait en anglais et en français, le texte anglais faisant foi, au Palais de la
Paix. à La Haye, le vingt mars deux mille deux, en trois exemplaires, dont
l'un restera déposéaux archives de la Cour et les autres seront transmis
respectivement au Gouvernement de la République fédéralede Yougo-
slavie et au Gouvernement du Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et
d'Irlande du Nord.
