ORDONNANCE

Le Vice-Président de la Cour internationale de Justiceant
fonction de Président en la présente affaire,

vu l'artic48 du Statut de la Cour,
vu l'artic37 du Règlement de la Cour ;

Vu l'ordonnance du 3 novembre 1953 par laquelle la Cour a
fixé au15 décembre 1953 l'expiration du délai dans lequel le
Gouvernement italien pouvait présenter un exposé écrit précisant
sa position surla question préliminaire soulevéepar lui lee
1953 en l'affaire de l'or monétaire pris à Rome1943, et au
15février1954l'expiration du délaidans lequel les Gouvernements
de la République française, du Rpyaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagnt
et d'Irlandedu Nord et des Etats-Unis d'Amérique pourront
présenter les exposés écrits de leurs observaet conclusions
sur cette question,

Considérant que l'exposé écrit du Gouvernement itala été
déposédans le délai fixé,

Considérant que, par télégramme du14 janvier1954 reçu au
Greffe le même jour, l'agentdu Gouvernement du Royaume-

The Vice-President of the International Court of Justice, Acting
President in this case,

having regard to Article8 of the Statute of the Court,
having regard to Article 37 of the Rules of Co;rt

Having regard to the Order of Kovember 3rd, 1953, wherebj-
the Court fixed December 15th, 1953, as the time-limit within
which the Italian Government might presea written statement
defining its position on the preliminary queraised by it on
October 3oth, 1953, in the case of the monetary gold removed
from Rome in 1943, and February 15th, 1954, as the time-limit
within which the Governments of the French Republic,of the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of
the United States of America might presenwritten statements
of their observations and submissions on that qiiestion,
Whereas the written statement of the Italian Gorernment was
yresented withinthe time-limit fixed,

Whereas by telegram of January 14th, 1954, filed in the Kegistry
on the same day, the Agent of the Government of the UnitedUni a demandé la prolongation au 31 mars 1954 du délai dont
l'expiration avait étéfixée au 15 février 1954, afin de donner
aux trois Gouvernements défendeurs le temps de se concerter
sur la nature de l'exposé ou des exposés qu'ils présenteront,

Considérant que, par lettre du zo janvier 1954, l'agent du
Gouvernement italien, auquel la demande présentée avait été
communiquée, a déclaré ne pas soulever d'objection à une éven-
tuelle prorogation,

Considérant que Les agents du Gouvernement français et du
Gouvernement des Etats-Unis d'Amérique, auxquels la demande
avait été également communiquée, ont fait savoir par des lettres
datées respectivement des 22 et 26 janvier 1954 qu'ils étaient
d'accord avec la demande de l'agent du Gouvernement du
Royaume-Uni ;

Proroge au 31 mars 1954 la date d'expiration du délai dans
lequel les Gouvernements dela République française, du Royaume-
Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande du Nord et des Etats-Unis
d'Amérique pourront présenter les exposés écrits de leurs obser-
vations et conclusions sur la question préliminaire soulevée en
l'affaire de l'or monétaire pris Rome en 1943.

Fait en français et en anglais, le texte français faisant foi, au
Palais de la Paix, à La Haye, le vingt-six janvier milneuf cent
cinquante-quatre, en cinq exemplaires, dont l'un restera déposé
aux archives de la Cour et dont les autres seront transmis respec-
tivement aux Gouvernements de la République italienne, de la

République française, du Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et
d'Irlande du Nord et des Etats-Unis d'Amérique.

of the time-limit which had been fixed for February 15th, 1954,
in order to give time to the three Respondent Governments to
concert as to the nature of the statement or statements they
will make,

\Vhereas by letter of January zoth, 1954, the Agent of the
Italian Government, to whom the aforesaid request had been
communicated, stated that he had no objection to the reqiiested
.extension,

Whereas the Agents of the French Government and of the
Government of the United States of America, to whom the said
request had also been communicated, indicated by letters dated
respectively January zznd and 26th, 1954, that they concurred
in the request of the Agent of the Government of the United
Kingdom ;

Extends to March 31st, 1954, the tirne-limit within which the
Governments of the French Republic, of the United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of the United States
of America may present written statements of their observations
and submissions on the preliminary question raised in the case
of the monetary gold removed from Rome in 1943.

Done in French and English, the French text being authoritative,
at the Peace Palace, The Hague, this twenty-sixth day of January,
one thousand nine hundred and fifty-four, in five copies, one of
which will be placed in the archives of the Court and the others
wiil be transmitted to the Governments of the Italian Republic,
of the French Republic, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Northem Ireland and of the United States of America.
