NOTTEBOHM CASE
(LIECHTENSTEIN v. GUATEMALA)
ORDER
The President of the International Court of Justice,
having regard to Article 48 of theatute of the Court,
having regard to Article37 of the Rules of Court ;
Having regard to the Judgment of November 18th, 1953,
whereby the Court rejected the Preliminary Objection presented
by the Govemment of the Republic of Guatemala in the Nottebohm
case, resumed the proceedings on the merits and fixed time-limits
for the rest of the procedure,
Whereas by letter of January 4th, 1954, filed in the Registry
on the same day, the Agent for the Government of Guatemala
requested the extension to the end of July 1954 of the time-limit
for the filing of the Counter-Memorial of the Government of
Guatemala, for which January zoth, 1954, had been fixed as the
time-limit by the Judgment of November 18th, 1953,
Whereas the Agent for the Government of Liechtenstein, to
whom the aforesaid request had been comrnunicated, has by
telegram of January 14th, 1954, indicated that he had no objection
to an extension of the said time-limit for three months, that is
to April 20th; 1954 ;
Fixes April zoth, 1954, as the time-limit for the filing of the
Counter-Memorial of the Government of Guatemal;
Reserves the rest of the procedure for further decision.

Done in French and English, the French text being authoritative,
at the Peace Palace, The Hague, this fifteenth day of January,
one thousand nine hundred and fifty-four, in three copies, one of
which will be placed in the archives of the Court and the others
transmitted to the Govemments of the Principality of Liechten-
stein and of the Republic of Guatemala, respectively.

ORDONNANCE
Le Président de la Cour internationale de Justice,
vu l'articl48 du Statut de la Cour,
vu l'articl37 du Règlement de la Cour;
Vu l'arrêt du18 novembre 1953 par lequel la Cour a rejeté
l'exception préliminaire présentée par le Gouvernement dela
République du Guatemala en l'affaire Nottebohm, a repris la
procédure sur le fond et a fixé la date d'expiration des délais
pour la suite de cette procédure,
Considérant que, par lettre 4ujanvier1954 remise au Greffe
le mêmejour, l'agent du Gouvernement du Guatemala a demandé
la prorogatioà la fin de juill1954 du délaipour le dépôt du
contre-mémoire du Gouvernement du Guatemala, délai dont
l'arrêt du18 novembre 1953 avaitfixéla date d'expiration au
20 janvier1954,
Considérant que, par télégrammedu 14 janvier1954,l'agent
du Gouvernement de Liechtenstein, auquel la demande précitée
avait étécommuniquée, a fait savoir qu'il n'avait pas d'objection
à la prolongation dudit délai pour trois mois, c'est-à-dire jusqu'au
20 avril1954;
Fixe au zo avril1954 l'expiration du délai pour le dépôt du
contre-mémoire du Gouvernement du Guatemala ;
Réserve la suite de la procédure.
