The following information is communicated ta ·the Preby the Registry of the
Internationalourt of Justice:

On 16 and 20 June 1995, within the time- limits for the filing of their Counter-Memor!als,
the United Kingdom and the United States respectively filed in each of the above cases certain
pre!iminary objections conceming the jurisdiction the Court and the admissibility of the
App1ication.

By virtue of Article 79, paragraph 3, of the Ru!es of Court, the proceedings on the merits
are suspended when preliminary objections are filed; proceedings have then toorganized for

the consideration of those pre!iminary objections in accordance with the provisions of that
Article.

By Orders of 22 Septem ber 1995, the Court, taking into account the views expressed by
the Parties at a meeting with the President of the Court held on 9 September 1995, fixed, in
each case, 22 December 1995 as the time-limit within which the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya may
present a written statement its observations and submissions on the preliminary objections

raised by the United Kingdom and the United States respectively.

The subsequent procedure has been reserved for further decision.
