    On 22 March 2023, H.E. Mr. Chaves Robles, President of the Republic of Costa Rica, paid a visit to the International Court of Justice at its seat, the Peace Palace, in The Hague. Mr. Robles, accompanied by a high-level delegation, met with H.E. Judge Kirill Gevorgian, Vice-President of the Court, H.E. Judge Peter Tomka, H.E. Judge Xue Hanqin, H.E. Judge Patrick L. Robinson and H.E. Mr. Philippe Gautier, the Court’s Registrar.

    The International Court of Justice has authorized the League of Arab States, at its request, to participate in the proceedings on the request for an advisory opinion in respect of the Legal Consequences arising from the Policies and Practices of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.

Azerbaijan).

    By an Order dated 3 February 2023, the International Court of Justice organized the written proceedings concerning the Request for an Advisory Opinion on the Legal Consequences arising from the Policies and Practices of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem. It fixed 25 July 2023 as the time-limit within which written statements on the questions may be presented to the Court, and 25 October 2023 as the time-limit within which States and organizations having presented written statements may submit written comments on the written statements made by other States or organizations, in accordance with Article 66, paragraph 4, of the Statute.

    By an Order dated 3 February 2023, the Court extended to 10 March 2023 the time-limit for the filing of the Rejoinder of the Russian Federation in the case concerning Application of the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism and of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Ukraine v. Russian Federation).

    By an Order dated 2 February 2023, the Court fixed 2 May 2023 and 4 December 2023 as the respective time-limits for the filing of the Memorial of Belize and the Counter-Memorial of the Republic of Honduras in the case concerning Sovereignty over the Sapodilla Cayes (Belize v. Honduras).

    Public hearings on the Request for the indication of provisional measures submitted by the Republic of Azerbaijan in the case concerning Application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Azerbaijan v. Armenia) took place on 31 January 2023. The Court will now begin its deliberation .

    On 19 January 2023, the Secretary-General of the United Nations transmitted to the Court, further to the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of resolution A/RES/77/247 on 30 December 2022, the request for an advisory opinion on “Israeli practices affecting the human rights of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem”.
