The publications of the International Court of Justice are published by the Registry, in several series, certain of which are available in electronic version.
This series contains the decisions of the Court in both the English and French texts. Each decision is published as soon as possible after it has been given, in an unbound fascicle, which is sold separately. To allow for binding, a continuous system of pagination is adopted for all the fascicles of any one year.
Early each year an analytical index is published of the previous year's decisions; this may also be purchased separately. The collected decisions, with index, for each year, may be obtained ready bound together in one to three volumes.
Official citation of the series: I.C.J. Reports, with an indication of the year, e.g. Application of the Interim Accord of 13 September 1995 (the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia v. Greece), Judgment, I.C.J. Reports 2011 (II), p. 644.
Volumes in this series are published after the termination of each case and contain the documentation relating to the case in the original language, i.e. English or French. This comprises the document instituting proceedings, the written pleadings and (selected) annexes, the verbatim records of the oral proceedings, any documents submitted to the Court after the closure of the written proceedings, and selected correspondence.
Official citation: I.C.J. Pleadings, with the short title of the case, e.g. I.C.J. Pleadings, Dispute regarding Navigational and Related Rights (Costa Rica v. Nicaragua), Vol. I.
No. 6 is the latest issue in this series. It contains the Charter of the United Nations, the Statute and Rules of Court along with Practice Directions and other basic texts.
Official citation: Acts and Documents No. 6.
In the second half of each year there appears a Yearbook in which an account is given of the work of the Court during the period from 1 August of the preceding year to 31 July of the current year. This publication, which was traditionally issued in English (Yearbook) and French (Annuaire), is now published in a bilingual version.
Abbreviated reference: C.I.J. Annuaire-I.C.J. Yearbook with an indication of the year covered, e.g. C.I.J. Annuaire-I.C.J. Yearbook 2015-2016.
Each year the Registry issues a Bibliography listing such works and documents relating to the Court as have come to its attention during the previous year.
Abbreviated reference: I.C.J. Bibliography, with the serial number of the volume, e.g. I.C.J. Bibliography No. 57.
